AdminHistoryVladmir Klebanov was a mineworker in the Soviet Union, who was placed in prisons and mental hospitals in the Ukraine for attempting to set up an independent trade union. Klebanov attempted to persuade mineworkers' unions worldwide to take up his case, including the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM). Bethell attempted to persuade the NUM to assist Klebanov.
