| Description | Letters found in a folder labelled "Miscellaneous Correspondence about KP". Contains correspondence between ESP and various others regarding the Karl Pearson papers, which were offered to Cambridge University Library before eventually being deposited at UCL. Includes letters from E B Ceadel and A N L Munby at Cambridge. The idea of leaving the Karl Pearson archive at Cambridge University Library or King's College was explored due to KP's early links with Cambridge, the relevance of his early material to his contemporaries at Cambridge, and the lack of suitable accommodation at UCL. A letter from the Provost, Lord Anan, to ESP reassures him that suitable space will be provided at UCL. Also letters from UCL Library to ESP thanking him for a donation of 16th and 19th century books (listed), letters between ESP, J W Scott (Librarian) and the UCL College Committee regarding the unsealing of two boxes of Galton papers deposited at UCL by Karl Pearson in 1933; letters between ESP and the College Secretary regarding ESP's intention to leave his books, prints and other papers to UCL in his will; correspondence regarding letters between W P Elderton and KP; and letters regarding the papers of W S Gosset, G Udny Yule, W F R Weldon and Bateson. |
