TitleGalton, Sir Francis
Datec1868
DescriptionEight pages of rough notes by Francis Galton found loose inside the cover of The Variation of Animals and Plants under Domestication vol. 2, by Charles Darwin, (London: John Murray, 1868). No letter. The first 7 folios are notes about the book and Darwin's ideas, illustrating Galton's attempts to resolve the question of the causes of variation. His notes show that he was particularly interested in Darwin's theory of pangenesis. The last folio appears to be a travel itinerary. The book itself has been annotated by Galton throughout.
