Description | Manuscript letters. Letter dated 12 Nov 1858 describes the union debating room and library in Cambridge. States that 330 people have been present for crowded debates (four diagrams are enclosed). Telegram dated 1886 is an invitiation to visit Alderley near Wotton under Edge in the Cotswolds. Letter dated 18 May 1905 delighted that Galton is coming to the House on 14 June. Letter dated 25 June 1909. Butler states he had great pleasure in reading of Galton's knighthood but. Mentions various people who have spoken respectfully of him including Leonard Darwin, Joseph Hooker, Prince Roland Bonaparte and Sir Archibald Geikie. |
