Description
Manuscript letters. Discussing candidates for the 'Eugenic Fellowship'; concerns research for "How far does a knowledge of the personal and family antecedents of the parents justify a forecast of the longevity and health of the offspring?"; sent him letters to read; suggests that he corresponds with Philippa Strachey who might be useful; told him to concentrate his studies on the "feeble-minded" [people assumed to have learning disabilities] and to write to Lilian Hamilton about this; questions about his research eg on "deaf and dumb" [people with hearing and speech disabilities], and on "noteworthy families"; letter dated 23 December 1905 has enclosure with full example of a noteworthy family relationship and cutting from Nature on the same topic; constructive criticism of papers; regrets Schuster's resignation from the Eugenics Fellowship (21 October 1906); letter dated 9 January 1906 mentions the death of his sister, Mrs Wheler of Leamington.
