AdminHistoryEdward Albert Sassoon, born Bombay, eldest surviving son of Sir Albert Sassoon, First Baronet and businessman, and his wife Hannah, ne Moses, 1856; the family settled in London, 1876; married Aline Caroline de Rothschild, 1887; one son, one daughter; succeeded his father as Baronet, 1896; Chairman, David Sassoon & Co; Director, Imperial Bank of Persia; did much for Empire telegraphy; Major, Duke of Cambridge Hussars Yeomanry; Deputy Lieutenant; Liberal Unionist MP for Hythe, 1899-1912; Vice-President, Jews' College, 1908-1912; Vice-President, Anglo-Jewish Association; President of the Elders of the Sephardi Synagogue; President, Education Aid Society; died 1912. Aline Caroline Sassoon, daughter of Baron Gustave de Rothschild; died 1909.
