Description | Various typescript and handwritten lists and catalogues of Moses Gaster's library of manuscripts and books. These catalogues appear to have been created by Moses Gaster, but then expanded and brought together by Vivan, as an executor of Moses Gaster's estate.
These consist of:
- a catalogue of Moses Gaster's manuscripts, split into three sections: 'Hebrew'; 'Samaritan'; and 'Various'. There are two copies of this catalogue, with different annotations. It was used for a valuation by a 'Dr Ettinghausen' in 1941. - a folder entitled 'List of printed books deposited at Chancery Lane Safe Deposit in 1940'; - a bound volume entitled 'Gaster Collection Manuscripts'.
These catalogues were seemingly also used for the transfer of material from Gaster's library to John Rylands Library, Manchester. |
