Description | Series of ledgers, 1922-1944, containing the accounts relating to the schools arranged by the governing bodies established in 1922. Generally the ledgers include the accounts relating to each school's expenses regarding air raid damage; air raid precautions; administration; advertising, printing etc; grants; repairs; superannuation contributions; examination; fuel and lighting; furniture and apparatus; household materials; insurance; interest of capital; libraries; National Insurance; petty cash; rates and taxes; rents; salaries and wages; scholarships, prizes and prize givings; school fees; school materials and stationery; games subscriptions; and boarding houses. The London based volumes also include some early accounts of schools outside London. The volumes are indexed by school and account. There are also two volumes covering 1943-1957 relating to Shrewsbury and Sheffield which were stored in the former folder of a volume labelled 'Croydon Cash', which appear to follow-on from the earlier volumes. |
CustodialHistory | The volumes were sent to the central archive at Wimbledon High School to be microfilmed in 1981. When the volumes were microfilmed the binding was removed and the covers were retained. |
