| Description | Materials relating to the business of the HMI Committee (C20) on Computing in Schools (Chairman HMI Michael Girling, and Secretary HMI Pip Leaton), established in 1976 to undertake the first survey of aspects of computer use in schools, participate in running in-service courses on computing and advise HMI and officials on computer studies as a curriculum subject. Later, this committee focused more on computing and information technology as specialist studies in schools, and on IT as a National Curriculum subject. It also advised on the provision and quality of training of specialist teachers in these subjects.
