| Description | Materials relating to the initial work of the Schools Committee of the British Computer Society (BCS), of which HMI was a member. It was originally referred to as Working Party B or WP4. The Schools Committee was founded in 1965 at the initiative of Miss Diana Laws of ICL and was chaired successively by Donnvan E Tagg, Frank Lovis, Les W Jackson, J David Tinsley and Bill Tagg. It consisted of computing teachers from schools, HFE colleges, teacher training and industry (ICL and IBM), and representatives from DES/HMI and universities. It aimed to represent those engaged in educational computing in the UK between 1967 to 1978, seeking support from government, industry and educational administrators for various initiatives.
