TitleVarious geological and non-scientific notes
Datec.1816-c.1850
DescriptionA file of George Greenough's handwritten notes and fragments on various subjects, which also includes a handwritten notice by Mary Anning.

The Anning notice is entitled ‘A Nondrescript from the Blue Lias, Lyme Regis Dorset’, and includes an illustration of a fossil. The notice is anonymous, about a fossil for sale. It also mentions fossils of Ichthyosaurus communis. It is undated and is not watermarked, but that it is from Anning can be discerned from the writing, and its contents, which can also date it as pre-1832 and is probably 1831.

The notes by Greenough include:
- geological notes on various parts of England and Wales, including Guildford gravel beds;;
- notes on various subjects including phunology, travel, government in Ireland, crime and punishment in England;
- list of continental geologists, (1816);
- 4 pages of latin text, in Greenough's handwriting, entitled 'Tolle ambitionem et fastuosos spiritus, virtute claros non habebis';
- a page of notes regarding the appointment of a president to an organisation, possibly relating to the Geological Society of London;
- a letter copied from newspaper (1848);
- notes from a speech at an event related to geology.
