DescriptionBiographical notes and drafts written about George Greenough, following his death in 1855, consisting of both handwritten and typed text. The majority of this material seems to have been written in the mid-20th century by one of Greenough's descendants, however some of the notes in different handwriting may come from much earlier. The material in this file includes:

- several draft memoirs of Greenough, including one entitled 'Material for the Memoirs of George Bellas Greenough and his Times; put together from original letters and papers by Mary Cottingham';
- transcripts of Greenough's letters;
- notes regarding Greenough's correspondence and diary entries;
- a typed copy of Greenough's obituary in 'Country Gentleman's Magazine and Historical Review';
- a draft memoir of Peggy Greer née Colthurst, Greenough's niece who sometimes assisted him in his work.
