AdminHistoryMaggie Wilson trained to teach at Jordanhill College, Glasgow. She taught in Scotland, Saudi Arabia, London and then in Bradford, West Yorkshire, where she became a history specialist in a middle school (aged 8-13). She specialised in history and discusses the teaching of history to younger children. She found the National Curriculum helpful and has picked up ideas from the Schools History Project approach of using 'enquiries' and artefacts in the classroom. She discusses the topics taught and impact of 'cross-curricular' approaches to history. Finally she reflects on the needs of children in a multi-cultural school in terms of identity and heritage and its implications for the history curriculum.
