DescriptionDocuments relating both to the Allix family and related families. Contains papers that pre-date Dr Peter Allix's arrival in England; writings in his own hand and related notes by his sons John Peter and William; other notes by John Peter and William on family and religious matters; title deeds and other items relating to property and local matters; and certificates, pedigrees and genealogical notes of the Allix and related families.
All the documents are numbered. Those relating to Dr Peter Allix include:
1.44: Passport with seal, allowing Dr Pierre Allix, previously minister at Charenton, to depart the country in accordance with the King's edict, together with his wife Marguerite Roger and three of his children, Jean Pierre aged 6, Jacques aged 3 and a half, and Thomas aged 11 months, going to England via Calais, 1685.
1.46: Contemporary copy or draft of James II's grant for establishing the Jewin Street Church, 1686.
1.47: Original certificate of denization of Peter Allix, Margarett his wife, John Peter and James, their children born in England, 1688.
1.49: Original attestation signed by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, the Bishop of London and fifteen other bishops stating that Dr Allix needs and deserves greater help and encouragement for his work on the Councils than he can get solely from subscriptions, 1700.
1.194: Letter from Dr Allix to an unnamed bishop, describing his departure from France, his actions, and problems and difficulties he has encountered in England, undated.
