Description | Explaining that he had tried to take a diligence for Lille but it would only run if at least two people boarded or one person payed for two. As a result, he had not been able to leave for the past three days. Luckily Mr Lefort, whom he had met recently, had hired a coach to go to Lille from Dunkirk and he was happy to offer Jean François a seat. Finally, Jean François mentions that he had received a letter from his office which had troubled him greatly. Unfortunately, he did not provide clear details as to its content but it appears that Mr Schutte had reported that Mr Vernède had commented on Jean François' long absence. |
