TitleLetter from Jean François De Luc, in Amsterdam to his father Jean André De Luc, in London
Date10 Dec 1781
DescriptionExplaining that not only would he not be troubled by his father's possible marriage to Mme De La Fite, but he would actually be delighted by such news. Jean François reports that he had decided to buy some goods with the hope of reselling them and making a small profit. He had asked his brother to send him some small items of little value, as he did not have enough funds to purchase anything more expensive. He had managed to sell everything and was now hoping to repeat the process. Whilst he agreed that it could not be described as a business yet, Jean François hoped that he could slightly increase his income in this manner. However, he would have to ask his friends for credit in order to pursue this and he would like his father's approval to do so.
