AdminHistory	The De Luc family were Swiss Protestants, possibly of French Huguenot origin, from Geneva. Jean André De Luc (1727-1817), a naturalist and scientist of some distinction, emigrated to England in 1773, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Society and Reader to Queen Charlotte at Windsor. His son, Jean Franois, was a merchant in India from 1785 to 1800.
Acquisition	Found in 1932 at the French Hospital, with the records of the French Committee ('Royal Bounty'). There is no explanation of their previous history, unless it is connected with the Rev. Louis Mercier (1784-1811) of the Huguenot Church in Threadneedle Street, and a cousin and life-long friend of Jean François De Luc.
