| AdminHistory | The Minet family originated in Cormont and Frencq, villages near Montreuil. Isaac Minet I's father Ambroise was a freeman of Calais and had a prosperous business as a druggist, grocer and tobacconist. His six sons and three daughters, together with his widow, all fled from France to escape religious persecution. The fourth son, Isaac, settled in Dover, where the family established a banking firm, Minet & Fector. The records relate to him and his descendants in England and Holland. |
