Description | This volume (see H/J/30) begins with the Memorandum and list of contributors, identical to those in H/B/2/3. Then follows a much abbreviated summary of the pre-hospital accounts 1709 to 1719. The book then becomes a species of ledger ('Grand Livre') in which debits and credits are classified under such headings as Rents & Interest, Gifts & Legacies, Apprenticeships, Hospital Administration & Repairs, Out-gifts; several years appearing on one page, so that annual expenditure under each heading can be compared. Like the Journal H/B/2/3-4, on which it is based, it ends in April 1806. No minute has been found concerning the starting of this record, but it was evidently regarded as the main reference record for the finance of the Corporation. |
