Description | Jeanne Barbier, a 50 year old widow, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. Her father, Jaques Bernard and herself were both born in London, but her grandfather, also called Jaques, was from Saint-Maixent, in Poitou. Her late husband was François Barbier. She suffers from severe pain in the left leg and was admitted to the Hospital of St Thomas for four months but was then discharged as deemed incurable. She is now unable to walk and work. A note signed by Dr J N Jacquin confirms that Jeanne suffers from rheumatism in the left leg and has a considerable tumor on the left thigh, dated 23 August 1770. The petition is signed by Jean Delamare. |
