Description | Jacob Bay, a 53 year old widower, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. He was born on 24 September 1790. His parents were William and Elizabeth Bay. The petitioner paternal great grandfather, Jacob Bay, was originally from Picardy. He left France, during the night of the St Bartholomew's Day Massacre, having arrived to the shore with his chariot and horses, that he abandoned to board an open boat. Jacob is a weaver but suffers from poor health and a decrease in trade. The petition is signed by Jacob Bay himself and John Baldwin. At the back, a note presumably by the petitioner, relates his precarious current accomodation and financial condition. Petition n. 1286. |
