Description | Marie Walker, a 66 year old woman, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. She was born on 22 February 1776. Her parents were Marie Hazelton and Pierre Philippe Blutte. The latter was born in Walincourt, near Saint-Quentin, in Picardy and came to England as a refugee in 1763. Marie used to be a silkweaver but can no longer work due to age-related conditions. The petition bears Marie Walker's mark and is signed by Thomas Jones. A note at the back states that the petitioner's uncle, Charles Blutte, was a Huguenot refugee in England who suggested that his brother (Marie's father) join him. Marie's cousin, Charles Blutte, was a resident of the French Hospital and died there in October 1840. Peter Blutte, brother of the above, was also a resident at the time of the petition being made. Petition n. 1257. |
