| Description | William Clifton, a 64 year old widower, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. He was born on 24 April 1792. His parents were William Clifton and Elizabeth Bataille. The latter's grandfather was a French Protestant refugee and Elizabeth's uncle, Peter Bataille, died at the French Hospital on 19 February 1846. He was 94 years old. William was a silkweaver, but can no longer work due to poor eyesight and ill health. The petition is signed by Jacob Heymar (?) Pye and William Clifton himself.
