| Description | Project for an alphabetical register of the names, ages, origin, rank and profession of all French Protestants in Great Britain, and future arrivals, and of their families; the French churches in provincial towns in England to be invited to publicize the register and provincial refugees to send in their names, etc., with a certificate from their minister and elders; it is explained that it will be difficult for future generations to prove their descent and thus their right to admission to the Hospital.
This proposal, according to an endorsement, was to be submitted to the Court of Directors on 5 April 1738, but as it is not mentioned in the minutes for that date, it was presumably abandoned as too ambitious. |
