Description | The account for the annual grants of George II are divided into two groups, of which this is the first. It comprises the accounts of monies paid out from annual grants, at the rate of £6872.16. o.p.a. The accounts are signed by members of the French Committee amd countersigned by members of the English Committee. Up to 1750-1 (RB/G/058/12) all contain a copy of the authorizing warrant and a copy of the nominations of both Committees. All have a title-page. The grant was usually paid in arrear, and in two instalments. Disbursements are usually grouped in the following 9 categories: persons of quality; middle class; common people; orphans; schoolmasters; apothecaries, etc.; proselytes; country churches; expenses. Variations from this pattern are specially noted. |
