AdminHistory | Founded as a Friendly Society for the mutual benefit of Huguenot refugees. Run by a Treasurer and a Secretary, who served for six month terms, with responsibilities for visiting the sick, arranging interrments and acting as pall-bearers, as well as nominating their successors. The Society met every fortnight for its business. The Society also provided basic insurance against fire and accidents, and long-term support for pensioners.
