TitleTreasurer's day-book of receipts and expenditure
Date1780-1803
DescriptionIn this only surviving volume of general accounts, the Treasurer entered on the left-hand page receipts of gifts, legacies, subscriptions, and interest on investments; and on the right-hand page all expenditure, including salaries, wages, suppliers' bills, payments to the Master for his 'dépenses de la Maison' (not detailed) and miscellaneous expenses. The accounts are finely written. As the title on the front cover reads: '2. Journal continué 1780', there must have been one earlier volume, as well as later accounts, all now missing. Only the first few pages are numbered. At the beginning, on unnumbered pages are:
i) daily forms of prayer used on opening and closing the school
ii) names of apprenticed school leavers receiving £5 from Mme Anne Muncktell's legacy, 1795 and 1798
iii) list of preachers of the Anniversary Sermon, 1791-1838
iv) the School's total annual expenditure, 1787-1797
At the end there are accounts of investments, 1793-1810. Attached to the inside back cover: Summary account for the new building, undated (1845-1846).
