There is some overlapping with WS/C1/3 and WS/C/1/5. All the entries are numbered, and most have been struck through, probably when they left. There is no further information.
In conjunction with the original baptismal certificates (WS/C/2/1-4), they supply particulars of numerous pupils and candidates earlier than 1786, when the first register begins. The names, when not in Mr Beaufort's index of birth and baptismal certificates published in the Proceedings of the Huguenot Society (London: Huguenot Society of Great Britain and Ireland), vol. IV, pp. 355-448, are included in Susan Minet's Appendix IV to her article 'École de charité française de Westminster' in the Proceedings of the Huguenot Society, vol. XII, pp. 91-117. In WS/C/1/2, however, there is some information, as to reasons for non-admission, apprenticeship, subsequent withdrawal, or death, which has not been printed. |
