DescriptionSome of James Britton's papers regarding his involvement with the International Federation for the Teaching of English (IFTE), which used to be known as the ‘International Steering Committee’ until the early 1980s. This was a body that consisted of members from various national bodies regarding the teaching of English, namely the AATE (Australia), NATE (UK), NZATE (New Zealand), CCTE (Canada), and NCTE (US).
These papers consist mainly of correspondence, memos, constitutional documents, minutes of meetings, and conference papers. They Include correspondence regarding the issue of South African applicants to the 1990 New Zealand Conference.
