| AdminHistory | The first letters from Lucia Joyce to Jane Lidderdale date from 1959. In her letter accompanying the donation of papers, Lidderdale says "This is just about Lucia's first letter to me. Harriet Weaver brought me to see her at St Andrew's Hospital in the late 'fifties. She saw that Lucia seemed to like me well enough and suggested to her solicitor, Lionel Monro... that I should succeed her as Lucia's Receiver (guardian). I have been Lucia's Receiver since the beginning of 1962 (Harriet Weaver died in October, 1961)". |
