| AdminHistory | Louis Arnaud Reid (1895-1986) studied philosophy at the University of Edinburgh and from 1919 to 1926 lectured in Aberystwyth and Liverpool. From 1932 to 1947 he was Professor at Armstrong College, Newcastle and then, in 1947, became the first Professor of the Philosophy of Education in Britain, at the University of London Institute of Education, a post which he held until his retirement in 1962. After his retirement, among other activities, he continued to teach students in the Art and Design Department of the Institute of Education. He was closely involved with the Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain and wrote and lectured widely on aesthetics and the arts. |
