Description | File containing 22 black and white photographs of the Wokingham School (and more specifically fittings, construction work, furniture and models), with handwritten notes by David Medd on 'later systems of construction'. The notes explain that Wokingham School was the 'first building to tackle the problems in terms of multi-storey prefabrication', was 'a planning and technical landmark' and employed 'certain principles …that still hold'. The design of the school was connected with research work at the Building Research Station on colour, lighting, acoustics and single skin concrete walling'. Wokingham Secondary Modern was the first Ministry of Education development project. |
