Gold ring with black and bronzed silhouette portrait of Jeremy Bentham (by John Field: inscribed 'Field 11 Strand'); and, inside, locket compartment containing woven lock of hair. Engraved inscriptions: on inside, 'Jeremy Bentham Hair & Profile'; 'born 4/15 Feb'' 1747-8, died 6 June 1832 in his 85 yr'; on outside, 'Memento for S. Van De Weyer.'
