Description | Quitclaim, on parchment with pendant seal attached. Robert de Pokeford, son of John de Pokeford, quits his claim to lands at Northbridge in the town of Godalming [Godehalmyng] in favour of his brother John de Pokeford. Dated at Godalming on the Thursday of the Feast of the Ascension in the twelfth year of the reign of Edward son of King Edward, i.e. Ascension Day 12 Edward II [Thursday 17 May 1319]. With the seal of Robert de Pokeford. A later pencil note on the verso reads "Will of Robert de Pokeford 1338", indicating that this was part of a bundle of deeds relating to the estate of Robert de Pokeford. |
