Date16th century - 17th century?
DescriptionFragments of a Jain manuscript. Possibly the Kalpa-sūtra, likely written in Ardhamāgadhī Prākrit. Provenance unknown.

4 leaves, two of which are intact and the others fragmented. On three of the four leaves the text is in gold on a red background, and on one leaf the text is gold on purple. The texts are surrounded by highly decorated floral borders and facing illustrations worked in red, yellow and blue, usually of seated or dancing figures. One image depicts Parshvanatha beneath a cobra canopy and another appears to depict Queen Trisala and the birth of Mahavira. One of the intact leaves shows a miniature of Mahavira seated within three circles and four gateways surrounded by animals, preaching to all creatures.
