Description | Two folios, parchment, from the same manuscript but not consecutive. Probably part of a missal. Main body text in two columns written in black ink in a Gothic bookhand with red highlights, plus red and blue initial letters and red rubrics. Folio 1r has the page identifier lvii and f.2r has the identifier lxii. The first folio has lessons from Deuteronomy, Maccabees and Ecclesiasticus (indicated by the rubric 'sapie[ntia]', or Wisdom). Folio 2 has lessons from Esther (Hester) and Matthew. A rubric on f.2v indicates that the services that follow are for feria quarta, or Ash Wednesday. There are various examples of marginalia including a German annotation dated 1607 and some rough mathematical calculations, possibly 16th century, both on f.2r. There is also a pencil note "12-13" on the same folio, possibly 20th century. |
CustodialHistory | Possibly originated in Germany, suggested by the German marginalia. |
