Description | Two attached folios, paper, probably the endpaper and first leaf of a volume. Folio 1, which would have been the endpaper, has a number of small manuscript notes in Latin and some doodles on the recto and a note in a different hand about Methuselah son of Enoch who lived to the age of 969 years on the verso. Folio 2, which would have been the first proper leaf, has the manuscript text of the preface by Georgius Merula to his edition of Martial's Epigrammata, his dedicatory letter to Angelo Adriano. Text begins: "Georgius Alexandrimus Angelo Adriano oratori Regio salutem". In the lower left corner of f.1r there is a small fragment (approx 20x65mm) of another manuscript, likely a medieval binding fragment. The text is mostly obscured by dirt and adhesive but appears to have red and green highlights. There is an agnus dei watermark on folio 1. |
