Description	Two draft papers regarding research into the effect of selective schools and the eleven-plus exam on the academic achievement of children. This research was carried out using data from the MRC National Survey of Health and Development (NSHD), by members of the NSHD research team. This file contains: - The draft text of James Douglas’ speech to a meeting of Chief Education Officers (1965). 19 pages. Typed, and heavily annotated. - A draft paper, co-authored by James Douglas and Jean Ross, entitled ‘An Analysis of Some of the Secondary School Data Collected in the Course of the National Survey of Health and Development: The Local Supply of Places in Selective Secondary and Comprehensive Schools in Relation to Academic Achievement and School Leaving Date (c.1966). 30 pages. Typed and annotated.
