Description
Letters to Pearson regarding lecture syllabuses for engineering and graphics; Kennedy's expedition to the Rockies; inviting Pearson to visit; tests for elasticity in various materials; research into the "breakdown-point"; discovery of the reciprocal of the "thin virtual centres" theorem; his trip to Switzerland; his proposal that engineering students should spend their preliminary years studying science, and then apply that study to engineering; questions about Italian engineering schools; discussion of mathematical problems; recommending holiday homes; discussion of possible career paths for engineers; enclosing a letter from Hunter and English regarding stresses in punched steel plates; and congratulating Pearson on his election to the Royal Society. The letters are accompanied by a typescript summary of Kennedy's work at University College London.
