Description | Volume containing a copy of the paper "Argon and its Companions" by Ramsay and Travers published in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, November 1900, prefaced by the original manuscript in the hands of Ramsay and Travers. A typescript note by Travers explains that the paper was written by them interchangeably, with one picking up where the other left off. The printed material is annotated [by Travers?] and the volume includes manuscript and typescript notes by Travers, letters etc. The paper is followed by another, "The Spectra of Neon, Krypton and Xenon" by E C Baly, also published in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, 1903. The volume includes cuttings and offprints of other papers, diagrams and photographs of equipment (mostly dating from 1890s-1900s). Also one photograph taken in the Chemstry lab of Ramsay, Travers, John Shields, G M [Alexander] Kellas, Noel Heaton, P Williams, [?] Duch and one unidentified man. Annotated c1895, but must actually be 1892-1893 as John Shields only worked with Ramsay during this period. Travers has annoted the photographs of equipment to explain how it was set up and used. |
