AdminHistoryEric was born on 30th October 1929. He completed his degree, and then a PhD, in Geology at the former King’s College Newcastle. In 1954 he joined the Geology Department at University College London, where he stayed for the rest of his career. He was also an active member of the Geologists’ Association, holding roles including Circular Editor, Librarian, Senior Vice-President and, from 1991-1994, President. Eric worked to make geology accessible to people outside the academic world, writing and delivering tours largely in urban areas.

Eric married Isabel Telford in 1958 and they had three children, Helen, Angus and Alison. He died on 3rd May 2025 at the age of 95.
CustodialHistoryThe papers were collated by Tony Doré, with the help of Eric Robinson and his family. Tony then organised and listed them whilst they were stored at the Geologists' Association. His list forms this catalogue.
AcquisitionTransferred to UCL Special Collections from the Geologists' Association in 2025.
