AdminHistory | From 1913 onwards RWSW was involved in trying to set up a weekly journal, drafts of which were titled "The Interpreter", "The European" and "The European Review". He was finally successful in launching the publication in 1916 as 'The New Europe'. The aim of this publication was to raise public awareness of European politics and the possibilities for post war reconstruction. RWSW was editor of 'The New Europe' and wrote many articles for it. During his period of military and Government service 1917-1918 he was not allowed to act as editor but continued to write articles anonymously. In 1917 'The New Europe Society' was briefly formed. However conflicts over its aims and its relationship to the journal caused the Society to dissolve itself in December of that year. Publication of 'The New Europe' eventually ceased in 1920 due to financial problems. |
