Description | A bound scrapbook of newspaper cuttings following Maurice Orbach’s campaign to become a Labour MP for Stockport South in the 1964 general election, and his subsequent activities as the MP after his election. The cuttings are from local, national, and Jewish newspapers. They are mostly stuck into the scrapbook and annotated with the date of the article and the name of the newspaper, although some are loose.
Orbach was the general secretary the Trades Advisory Council (TAC) from 1940 until his death in 1979. Before representing Stockport South, he was previously the MP for Willesden from 1945 to 1959. |
