AdminHistory | Standing Committee B was established to deal with all matters concerning post-graduate initial courses of teacher education in Departments and Colleges of Education, including responsibility for the Graduate Teacher Training Registry. It consisted of one representative nominated by each University, two by the ATCDE, and one additional representative nominated by the Cambridge Institute. In 1973 the constitution was amended to allow universities (except the University of Wales) to increase their membership with the agreement of the Council and that University. King's College London was also now able to nominate a representative.
A new committee structure was established in 1993 when UCET and PCET (Polytechnics Council for the Education of Teachers) merged to form a new, larger UCET. Two new committees, the Initial Teacher Education (Primary) Committee and the Initial Teacher Education (Secondary) Committee were set up to deal with all matters of intital teacher training. |
