AdminHistory | (Iorwerth) Eiddon Stephen Edwards (1909-1996), was the first Keeper of Egyptian Antiquities at the British Museum from 1955 to 1974. He actively promoted radiocarbon dating in its early years.
Carbon-14 dating is a way of determining the age of certain archaeological artefacts of a biological origin up to about 50,000 years old. It is used in dating things such as bone, cloth, wood and plant fibres that were created in the relatively recent past by human activities. |
