Description
Six photographs of children interacting in various spaces. Images include a teacher leading a class through a 'noiseless corridor'; a teacher writing on a blackboard illuminated by strip lighting; a paddling pool; a child undergoing a medical examination; children saying a prayer in the dining room; and a queue of children waiting to cast their vote in an exercise in learning how to vote in a mock election, under the title 'A Modern School and Modern Methods'.
According to the commentary on the reverse the school embodied some of 'the most up-to-date features of any school in the country'. The school cost £100,000 and opened to 500 pupils in 1947. Its special features include 'sun veranda, pets corner, paddling pool' and 'heat controlled rooms'.
