Description
Includes images of the school building as well as children in the classrooms and playground.
The following text was written by George Baines and sent to the archive with the slides.
"Beginnings of organising school buildings by use of space for specific activity and learning rather than (not instead of) time-structured days in age-based classrooms. This approach fostered the purpose-built design of Eynsham C primary School which was 'purpose-built' not 'open-plan'. The terms 'intergrated day' and 'vertical grouping' began to be used by others failing to recognise these arrangements as normal in small rural schools. Brize Norton was such a school but the development was in using space rather than time as an organisational structure.
