Description	Clarke's typescript of the memoir to Lilly printed in Biographical Memoirs of Fellows of the Royal Society vol 46 (2000) Manuscript notes on Lilly's life and the structure of the memoir; List of the sources to be consulted. Lilly undertook postgraduate reseach under Clarke at University College London 1959-1962. He remained at UCL for the rest of his career, being appointed Professor of Biochemical Engineering in 1979.
