DescriptionPapers regarding a home economics In-service (INSET) project looking into how to integrate ESL (English as a Second Language) students in the first and second years at secondary school into mainstream home economics Classes. The project built upon a similar initiative at Tollington Park School in Islington. The project aimed to explore concepts vital to the first two years of home economics; study the language used in home economics; devise appropriate classroom activities that enable language development; create resources for teaching ESL students. The project was carried out at Tollington Park (later George Orwell), Pimlico and Islington Green School.
