Letters received from Johanna Gabrielle Ottelie "Tilly" Edinger (1897-1967) regarding research into Archaeopteryx; the British Museum (Natural History) sample and photographs; comparative anatomy; her book Evolution of the Horse Brain; attitudes towards palaeoneurology; Archawopteryx fossil and feather specimens from Berlin, and Solnhofen; and the endocranial Archaeopteryx cast.
Letters also received from E Ansell of Cambridge University; the Los Angeles County Museum; Joan Evans; Erwin Stresemann; Dr W Gross; Alister Hardy; and J Piveteau regarding bibliographic references to Archaeopteryx; taxonomy; the debates concerning mosaic transition and evolution; the Berlin specimen; and Tilly Edinger's work.
Copies of De Beer's outgoing letters are interspersed throughout.
